DVD Replication Explained

DVD replication and duplication are mistakenly used to define each other. DVD duplication is copying data into a new CD while DVD replication is a much more complicated method. DVD replication is a process of forming a clone of the master copy instead of copying onto a new CD; the data is formatted onto a new CD during its manufacturing period. Read more…

In this example, the learning activity is “conditional” because the user has a choice of answers and the learning activity will respond a certain way, depending upon the answer that the student selects. Today, we will examine the ‘drag and drop, many to one correspondence’ learning activity and provide some variations, so you can see how this learning activity may be used in various learning scenarios. Again, I would like to stress that any number of learning activities can be developed using Flash, with varying levels of difficulty and sophistication, so let’s get started. Read more…

Today the technology is simply wonderful to those that have grown up with the computers, VCRs, Remote control and electronic alarm clocks. Now for those people that are not computer literate, it can be a real challenge! I remember the first time I wanted my mother to open a browser, she told me that she had no dogs and I must be on some drugs. I laughed and showed her what a browser was. I showed her how to get on the web and search for a site. First thing she asked to look at was her bank. She had heard you could do your banking online. Read more…

They weighed hundreds of pounds, occupied the floor space of a medium sized refrigerator and office workers everywhere would watch in amazement as they hummed squealed and buzzed while they made their copies. At that time, no one could have imagined what was to become of those earlier machines in terms of technological advancements, but here we are today with office copiers that are literally packed with an ever increasing functions. It s possible to forget the astonishing amount of spam that floats through the Internet, slowing and degrading the electronic system just as surely as cholesterol gums up a human body. Vizio made some waves recently with the introduction of two bargain-priced plasmas, but it could garner attention from a whole new sect of individuals next month. Reportedly, the outfit is gearing up to launch “its first monitor tailored for dedicated PC users” in late August, the 26-inch widescreen VMM monitor. We are told that it’ll boast HDMI inputs, reduced brightness and higher resolution “than typical IT displays,” but aside from that (and the $449 price tag), the rest remains a mystery. Also of note, the company is expected to debut an “eco-friendly” line of TVs this October, which are said to “operate with 35- to 45-percent less power than traditional LCD TVs of comparable size.” Way to keep us on the edge of our seats, Vizio.

Cat’s out of the bag: we’re nerds, and can’t think of a better way to spend a Tuesday morning than to shuffle through endless configuration pages, trying to build the best bang-for-buck Studio Hybrid on the internet. Dell’s product page for the new mini desktop — which was released last night — is now online, and offers up that fabled $499 configuration, in addition to some rather spendy siblings. For instance, if you want to go bamboo that’s an extra $130 right out of the gate, a display will cost you $200 minimum, it’s $50 to bump the Hybrid up to 2GB of RAM, that Blu-ray drive is a hefty $250 add-on, and WiFi will cost you $70. There’s no option for discreet graphics — that’s no surprise — and the TV tuner option is of the USB dongle variety. Luckily some of Dell’s pre-configured versions come with decent “Instant Savings,” but it’s clear Dell is going for a slightly premium, design-concious consumer here, not the spendthrift.

Motorola to reorganize home and networks mobility business

, Home Entertainment, Wireless, Networking

So we waffled on whether to go with a sad Moto or happy Moto face, but as we’ve stated in the past, we suppose we’ll keep on keepin’ on with the former until something marvelous happens. Nearly four months to the day after Motorola split in two, along comes word that the separated home and networks division will now be segmented into three distinct units: broadband home solutions, broadband access solutions and cellular networks. According to a statement put out by the firm, the “organizational change will ensure that home and networks mobility remains agile, focused and ideally aligned to realize its growth potential,” which is about as canned a statement as you could ever hope for. We’ve heard that three’s company, but who knows how it’ll play out here.

While most of us can get by with a laptop bag on our travels, if you really need to have your primo gear with you at all times, you may want to take some cues from this one-of-a-kind trunk from the folks at Monolab Design. Apparently, this project began years ago when its creator was living from hotel to hotel, and it has now wound up as a fixture in the first Monolab|Workspace in Palo Alto, California. Not exactly fulfilling its purpose, to be sure, but it is undeniably a pretty impressive piece of work, with the entire 300-pound rid constructed out of anodized aluminum, and it boasting custom-built accommodations for a Mac Pro, a 23-inch Apple Cinema Display 23″, a Music Hall Mambo amplifier, and a pair of aluminum-enclosed Webern loudspeakers. No plans for building your own, unfortunately, but you can get a better look at it by hitting up the read link below.

Brando’s 4-in-1 desk lamp completes your workstation

, Peripherals

Oftentimes, Brando’s assortment of “must-have” doohickeys don’t actually do much for your productivity level. This particular gizmo, however, bucks that trend in glorious fashion. The $23 USB 4-in-1 Web Cam is a fairly standard desk lamp with built-in LEDs that also acts as a webcam, voice input device and fan. Best of all, this one’s USB-powered, though that could spell disaster (or “USB hub”) if your sockets are already occupied with other Brando gear.

Not that the Big N hasn’t snubbed the vast majority of the world before with these channel releases, but folks holed up everywhere save for Japan have yet another one they can only look longingly at from afar. Thanks to a new partnership between Nintendo and Fujifilm, the Wii Digicam Print Channel is immediately available for Japanese Wii consoles to access, which essentially gives owners the ability to upload images from SD cards and receive customized prints, photo books, business cards, etc. in the mail. We’re not totally at all sure why someone would choose to handle this on a gaming console rather than, say, an actual computer, but hey — who are we to judge? Oh, and for you folks in North America, Europe and beyond, expect the service to roll your way sometime in the future.

Not that Samsung is actually looking to pump this out into beauty salons worldwide, but there stands at least a mild chance that sophisticated females shopping for new compacts would also spring for some storage. Joongoo Lee’s Costume is a sleek, deliberately styled 2.5-inch external hard drive that looks entirely at home mixed in with various makeup components. Additionally, the bundled dock is equally sexy, though we can only hope there’s a USB 2.0 port somewhere on this thing. Though this is just a concept, we wouldn’t put it past Samsung to turn into a reality — after all, it did just produce pink and blue BlackJack IIs. Your soft side is showing, Sammy.
